Reebok Slide Workout : Having fun while Gliding

This has got to be one of the coolest workouts I’ve ever gone to : Reebok slide. Today was my second class and it was a blast! I love the sliding motion as well as having to keep my balance and still be able to stop without falling over. Needless to say, I did lose my balance once and step out of the board a bit. Push too hard! More after the fold about this great cardio exercise with low impact to protect knees and the back :

I got a great workout on my legs with low-impact to protect my knees and back as well as improving my balance and strengthening my core muscles. Boy, did my core muscles get a great workout! Looking at the mirror, my abs were definitely getting tighter and tighter so it’s definitely working.

Learning to Balance while leg lifting : Core Muscles at work

It’s harder than it looks because you’re trying to stop, gain your balance and then lift your leg! I’m still learning but at least my legs and arm coordination is better now compared to last week. And looking at the video, Slide Reebok would be so cool with K-POP and J-POP music no? Seriously, we had a lot of fun this evening doing it.

When my coach yelled out “Run it!”, everyone went down on their hands and started running their feet for about a minute, I think. It definitely felt a lot longer than that. However, it was the men who grunted and the ladies who kept at it! Woo hoo! Me, I stopped midway but I found that I lasted longer than my first time. So my body was getting stronger.

The other thing we had to do was carry medicine balls as we slide. Most of us had 1 kg balls but I think my coach and another lady easily had one that weighed 2-3 kg. Yep, more cardio and more core work.

Note : This exercise is quite tough for a person with a recent back injury so always seek medical advice before doing this. If you do get the green light, try it as it’s a great cardio workout. My heartrate went up to 170 bpm and so did a few others as well.

That’s it for today! Oh, I’m also working on my 5-day mini-course so keep an eye out for it on this website!
